In 1876, faithful believers organized Franklin Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and began a legacy of worship, service and ministry.

By 1881, Bishop Martin Robert Franklin helped establish a church on McKay Street and the congregation later honored him in the church’s name.

In 1912, under Rev. E.B. Robinson, Franklin Chapel moved to South Caledonia Road where the church remains today.

From 1915–1963, Franklin Chapel became one of the strongest congregations in the conference and a $100,000 sanctuary was constructed.

In 1987, Rev. M.H. Williams led educational building construction and sanctuary improvements.

Between 1995–1999, telecast ministry, a church van, parsonage and modernization transformed Franklin Chapel.

From 2005–2015, Franklin Chapel continued strengthening discipleship and outreach ministries.

In 2022, livestream worship and digital ministry expanded Franklin Chapel’s reach.

During 2025–2026, Rev. John T. Morrison Jr. and First Lady Renee Morrison began a new chapter of leadership.

Today Franklin Chapel remains a place of worship, hope and service nearly 150 years later.
