REWIND: Soup Kitchen 2025
At Franklin Chapel AME Zion Church, the spirit of love and service came together in a beautiful way through the Angel Soup Kitchen, held in memory of the late Alice R. Moore. Sister Moore was a devoted Missionary and served as the Parent Body Missionary President for over a decade, leading with a heart full of compassion and a mission grounded in faith.
Now in its sixth year of service, the Angel Soup Kitchen continues to make a powerful impact in the lives of community members. This yearβs outreach effort spanned six weeks, with volunteers showing up week after week to serve warm meals, offer smiles, and make sure no one was forgotten.
Warm Meals from Warm Hearts
Under the dedicated leadership of Chairperson Thelma McRae, the missionary women came together and prepared over 500 bags of nourishing soup, sandwiches, and bottled water. The kitchen was filled with the aroma of comfort food and the spirit of giving as volunteers ladled up steaming pots of homemade vegetable soup for the community.
Hands That Serve, Hearts That Give
Alongside the hot soup, volunteers also prepared peanut butter sandwiches, ensuring each meal bag was filled with care and love. The energy in the room was joyful and purposeful, as women of all ages worked side-by-side to make the event a success.
Carrying the Mission Forward
The impact of the Angel Soup Kitchen was felt throughout the community as hundreds of bags were distributed with kindness and dignity. The current Missionary Parent Body President, Esther Bown, continues to carry the torch β leading with grace and a strong commitment to serve.
This year’s event was more than a meal β it was a movement of love. It was a celebration of a life well lived and a promise that her legacy will live on through every bowl of soup and every hand extended in kindness.
To all who gave their time, effort, and heart β thank you. You helped make this yearβs six-week outreach a beautiful success.
Letβs continue to honor Alice R. Moore by serving with joy and lifting others with love β not just for a season, but for generations to come.
